The Death Penalty is a form of torture
The cruelty of torture is evident. Like torture, an execution constitutes an extreme physical and mental assault on a person already rendered helpless by government authorities. Abolitionist groups claim that the cruelty of the death penalty is manifest not only in the execution but in the time spent under sentence of death, during which the prisoner is constantly contemplating his or her own death at the hands of the state. Prison is an extraordinarily severe punishment that should not be exacerbated with torture or the death penalty.
Torture Defined
Torture of prisoners violates the Eight Amendment’s provision against Cruel and Unusual Punishment, and also constitutes a violation of several international laws. The United Nations Convention on Torture defined torture as “any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to lawful sanctions.”
I agree that death penalty is a form of torture, and if somebody asks me if I am against it I would say yes. I know that to be sentenced to death he or she may have commited something really bad, but we can´t decide and take a choice of wether he lives or not even if we judge that he deserves it. Death penalty is something really strong and we should think it twice before aproving it, as well as torture.
ResponderEliminarThough, as it is a form of torture, is can also end torture because I think the person would rather die instead of staying in prision ofr a lifetime suffering.
Answers to the questions:
1- yes(who wouldn´t), being locked and in darkness will start to be frustrating and eventually lead to anguish.
2- yes, as frustration comes, it becomes a form of torture.
3- it is like to inflic pain, either mentally, physical or emotionally.
4- yes, i think it is, because as the execution comes, the person might get frustrated; a lot of things might get through his or her mind that could cause mental inestability or torture.
5- yes it does because it violates some of the UDHR´s articles like # 1 and 5 that states that all human beings are born free and no one shall be subjected to torture respectively.
Well, I don't aprove torture or death penalty either... The government states that EVERY person has the right to live, and thus killing decerves severe punishment... that doesn't make sense at all. On the other hand, tortude degrades you as a person and as a living thing... there are times that being tortured gets people to stoping the desire of staying alive. But, let's put it up like this:
ResponderEliminarThe government puts people in jail, supporting them for life. Some stay there to "remold" into society, but they keep getting back to jail. Thinking logically: supporting people in jails is fair? What if they've killed lots of people, do they decerve to die too so they stop killing? In our government we shouldn't even discuss these themes, we don't even catch the bad guys xD
Answers:
1-.No, maybe they get ready knowing their time has come.
2-. Yes, when wishing freedom and staying inside a little room, its torturing.
3-. Constant inflict of mental or physical pain to someone.
4-. Yes, knowing that you are going to die on a certain date is a form of torture.
5-.Yes, torturing violates human rights and KILLING is the ultimate violating of rights.
I do aprove of some methods the government uses, without this people doing this, there wouldnt be safe streets to walk on, think about it this way... If you KNOW that by stealing an apple, you get your hand cut, would you steal it? Most probably our first years in such an extreme society law enforcement would be horrible, that because we have a rare idea of freadom, it fits us best when best its needed, like the dollar, we all wanna buy cheap but sell high, why? Some may say that it is our idea of wanting more every day, like a dog dosent know when he is full, either way, we all want the law to shape the best it can to our needs, thats why its always changing and turning in agressive ways... Let me put it this way, we are all saving, movies and society in general has given us the idea that "fun" can only come from doing "ilegal" actions, so thats why we SAVE, we save by taking care of what we say when we talk about the law, we try not taking sides, because we SAVE for when we are standing on that side of the fence, being frisked... Kids, stay in school, dont drink, go to church, and do NOT travel... Things like that corupt your heads, keep it clean, dont panic...
ResponderEliminar1.- I do think so, looking at a wall, when your whole world is already "dead" as a mater of speach, social ethics are irrelevant...
2.- Well im pretty sure that looking at a white wall 23 hours a day is pretty freaken broing, so yes... Its torture...
3.- Harm to my body, degradation, making me hang from my feet, having them make me listen to the religious chanel for more than an hour..Burning me, droping me into a tank fool of crabs, putting me in a room with an xbox i cant touch...
4.- I think i cleared thi s in my first point, the idea of having your world destroyed, not having anything to look forward but escape and death is just insane...
5.- It destroys you, i mean, what do they do with your body after they kill you? Do they like, carve you up like in the mob, or like do they do it in a profesional way like, drop you in a hole neer area 51? Or what if you get a romantic grave digger who puts you in like pies and some other poetic wierd... Kind of way?... Yea.. i mean, its destroys you, from the second the sentence is on, well you are pretty much just a pie waiting to be ate...
Unlike my best frien manuel, I aprove death penalty, think manuel if a bad guy violates your sister and that bad guy had killed lots of kids and torture them, do you wish that guy to be happy on jail or dead? think on that my friend. By the other hand i dont dont aprove torture but people who had torture someone deserves torture.
ResponderEliminar1.- Yeah rigth, but people who are condenated to a death row deserve it.
2.- Yes, but as i said they deserve it.
3.- To inflic pain, either mentally, physical or emotionally.
4.- Mental, becasue you are just waiting to die.
5.- People who had toruture, killed or violtaed someone, i think they dont deserve human rigths, i know is sound cruel but thats the way i think about criminals and stuff.

ResponderEliminarnice definition for torture
"putting me in a room with an xbox i cant touch"
Lol
im kinf of lost with this. my mind tell me a lot of thinks xD.
ResponderEliminarok ok.. i think that we cannot aprove torture & death penalty because the legal processes that are made are not completely safe, so a lot of people that are not guilty get the punishment that other people deserved and sometimes just because they are "power people" and the goverment is not as trustful or i dont know how to say it xD, that how i should be.
i dont understand people, like alan say, why people do ilegal things if they know that they are ilegal? its like they love to get in trouble or something.. i dont know!
well i think that doing death row is kind of not useful, just kill them or tortured them, decided people please! agh i get stucked i hope this is enough..
1 depends, or make people recapacitate about their life and find kind of peace.. or they get kind of crazy about thinking that they are gonna die soon.
2 yes, mental torture (that for me is worse)
3 make suffer someone physical or mental
4 yes because, i imagine the anxiety or frustration that being waiting for your death may cause.. it must cause some several damage.
5 just for doing something really bad to be given a sentence of death row i dont think they really have dignity in the first place
Angel, so you aprove death penalty in special cases? What if you kill somebody? do you want to be killed?
ResponderEliminarI agree with you manuel. Angel what would you do if you kill somebody by accident, but since you don´t have proof that it was an accident and you are sentenced to death? o.O
ResponderEliminarAnd Angel... leave my sister alone.. xD!
ResponderEliminarI don’t think death is a form of torture, because you don’t feel anything when you’re dead. And the mental state of the person before dying depends on the person itself. If I was a terrorist and knew that I have to accomplish and objective which will conclude with my death no matter how I die, well… Its part of my objective isn’t it? Oh well… I think death penalty is necessary in some cases, like when people just don’t give a damn about rules and authorities. There must be a way to maintain people inside the rules even if that includes death. I can tell you that if someone cares about his/her life, he won’t do anything that deserves death penalty. I was thinking about the middle ages, when people would gather to see someone get burned of hanged because of something he did… That caused fear to the people, and with fear comes the respect. Of course not all crimes or actions deserve death penalty.
ResponderEliminar-As I said in my comment, It depends on the person, If I have a really f***ed life with nothing left, my feelings before death will be different as if I left my family or children behind. And yes, EVERYBODY fears death, at least a bit.
-Yes, the constant fear of death becomes torture eventually.
-To cause extreme pain to someone or place him in a situation that harms his mind or body.
-Mental torture, a lot of things come to your mind when you’re about to die.
-If someone was given death penalty, it means he or she did something that deserved it, and in most of the cases it is murder, and by murdering someone, he violates this person’s right to live, so if the murderer didn’t respect other peoples rights, what makes him think other people would respect his rights?
if angel kill someone i think that he deserve a punishment, and if it was not on porpuse it must be investigate further.
ResponderEliminarthats rigth roxxxxasd, if i kill someone i deserve a punishment, but if it was an accident is different, maybe years in jail but not being killed. and someone cant violate someone accidently, or kill lots of people.
ResponderEliminarthink about your sister manuel can someone violate her accidently? no rigth??
ohhh and you cant torture someone for accident..(: so take that manuel
ResponderEliminarRaping somebody accidentally? May be possible, butI don´t think so. Does being drugged, drunked, or likes count?
ResponderEliminarSomebody raping manuel´s siter in that state probably wouldn´t do it thinking.
no, being druged dont count as accident, is your responsability to take drugs or not, so raping manuel´s sister under the abuse of drugs and alcohol is not an accident, is your responsability.
ResponderEliminarso take that manuel and roberto.
your blog is very fine......
